The map of the natural vegetation of Europe provides information about the form, natural variety
and spatial distribution of the main vegetation units of the natural vegetation cover in the individual
regions of Europe (natural biological diversity). In addition it shows the location and total
extent of areas with similar site qualities and environmental conditions, and thereby the comparable
natural growth potential, the entire range and the geographical differentiation of a unit (e.g. the
further subdivision of beech forests according to trophy and altitudinal belts, as well as into geographic
and ecological forms).
