The easiest way to start working with Turboveg3 from scratch is to import an existing Turboveg2 database. However, before this can be done an empty database needs to be created. Once created, open the database and import a single Turboveg2 database or perform a batch import of a number of databases.
In case no Turboveg2 database is available, the absolutely required step is to import a species list, unless you created a Dutch version of the database. In that case two species lists are automatically downloaded to the database (floranld_2017 and floranld_2020).
Next step is creating a dataset.
Only when a dataset is available, data entry or data import (except for importing a Turbove2 database) can start. Basic lookup tables, like one for cover scales and corresponding cover values, are already provided when creating a database. Other lookup tables, like one for authors, projects and syntaxa are also available, but empty. Check Manage lookup tables to see how lookup tables can be added and edited.
In case certain information does not fit into the available data fields new data fields can be added. However, in some cases newly added fields are not immediately visible in the data entry form. In that case the profile of the dataset concerned needs to be extended first.
